1973 Ferrari 246 Dino GTS Barn Find
There’s something undeniably special about barn finds, with these automotive time capsules representing some of the most original and untouched examples in existence. After being relegated to storage — and often abandoned or forgotten about — these machines are unearthed and finally treated to the attention and love they’ve been neglected of for years if not decades. And such is the case with this stunning, completely original 1973 Ferrari 246 Dino GTS.
One of only 1,282 examples built, and one of only 401 LHD specimens delivered to Europe, the iconic Italian sports car still boasts its matching-numbers chassis, engine, gearbox, and even body. Originally delivered to Italy, where it’s remained ever since, this late-production E-series 246 Dino GTS left the factory in May of 1973, with its original Pininfarina-designed bodywork adorned in a Bianco Polo Park livery that it still wears today. In 1978, the Targa-topped two-door was sold, passing through two Italian dealerships before being purchased again in 1981, marking the last time it would ever trade hands.
Now, for the first time in more than 40 years, the Dino is seeking a new owner. Even more noteworthy is the fact the iconic Italian sports car hasn’t even been seen or had a wheel turned in over a decade. Despite sitting dormant for so long, the vehicle remains in surprisingly stellar mechanical shape, requiring only fuel and new spark plugs to recently fire up its mid-mounted V6. What’s more, the GTS-spec 246 also sports its original Nero interior and is being sold with its original owner’s manual, hardtop, soft fabric cover, a spare wheel, spare parts catalog, and its factory jack its leather storage pouch.
Currently located in Italy with just 42,700 all-original miles on the clock, this unrestored 1973 Ferrari 246 Dino GTS (Chassis no. 06354) barn find is now being sold through Girardo & Co. where its price and additional information are available upon request.
