Samantha Tan Racing Gearing Up For Full-Time GT World Challenge America Campaign

On Friday, Samantha Tan Racing (ST Racing) announced their plans to race full-time in GT World Challenge America as part of their 2023 racing programme.

“I’m ecstatic to be back in the GTWC paddock again – this time for the full season!” exclaimed Tan, the co-owner and driver of the #38 BMW M4 GT3. “We were met with many difficulties last year which prevented us from competing at the majority of events, but we will once again step up for the challenge this upcoming season.”

“This year, our BMW M4 GT3 will be run by the STR38 Motorsports crew, a team of highly experienced and dedicated engineers/mechanics from around the world managed by a familiar face, Jon Miller. I look forward to another great year of racing with SRO!”

Tan will share the #38 BMW with a co-driver to be named at a later date.

After GT4 America championship successes in 2019 and 2020, ST Racing made their GT World Challenge America debut last year at Sonoma Raceway, finishing tenth and 11th the two races. A planned full-season effort was reduced to a part-time campaign due to shortages of spare parts for the new M4 GT3 in its launch year, and that problem was exacerbated when Tan was involved in a multi-car accident in the first race at VIRginia International Raceway.

The extensive damage inflicted ensured that ST Racing wouldn’t return to GT World Challenge America competition until the season-ending Indianapolis 8 Hour race. As the sole Silver Cup entry in the field, Tan, Nick Wittmer, and Harry Gottsacker finished a strong tenth place overall.

And while their SRO America campaign was hampered with setbacks, 2022 was a successful year on the whole for Samantha and her team: They gave the new BMW M4 GT3 its first overall racing victory in the 24H Series 12 Hours of Mugello, and also took part in the 24 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps for the first time.
